Overview

The Early Development and Research Departments at Alnylam are seeking a Lab Operations Associateto join our team to support the Sample Management group in the receiving and storage of clinical and nonclinical samples. We are seeking a highly organized individual that can work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory setting. This Lab Operations Associate must collaborate with the team and coordinate tasks with various stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met. This role will also be responsible for processing new samples into the archive inventory located in a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Additionally, this role will coordinate the shipment of orders with the logistics department.

This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end sample tracking and logistics for nonclinical and clinical samples, working closely with internal and external customers
  • Performs any combination of sample management and/or archive tasks, including labeling, receipt, transferring, tracking, inventory, archival, shipping logistics and disposal of nonclinical and clinical samples and test and reference materials utilizing a LIMS system
  • Sample reconciliation - document and communicate shipment discrepancies to appropriate personnel, assists with problem solving and auditing of inventory
  • Resolve discrepancies, with responsibility for confirming and correcting any anomalies in theLIMS system
  • Collaborate with other operations functions, internal and external, to ensure samples are ready for transfer and analysis
  • Support the overall inventory of nonclinical and clinical samples and test and reference materials within a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Maintain SOPs, working policies and forms for receipt, storage, and disposition of nonclinical and clinical samples and test and reference materials
  • Maintain a high level of organization and great attention to detail
  • Complete assignments in a timely and clearly documented manner
  • Handle tasks quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Maintain inventory of common laboratory consumables used for Sample Management
  • Coordinate international and domestic shipments to Contract Research Organizations by providing the necessary documentation for our Trade Compliance & Logistics Process
  • Coordinate information needed for international shipments including completing Tariff Request forms, customs invoices, and value determination.
  • Coordinate shipments with shipping vendors to ensure proper temperatures and safe arrival.
  • Track and monitor shipmentsfrom sample collection to sample receipt
  • Operate in a high pace and team-based environment

Qualifications

  • Minimal requirement of bachelor's degree in scientific discipline 3-5 years industry experience
  • 3+ years' experience in a laboratory setting preferred
  • Experience with LIMS applications and implementation preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a high capacity within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, eagerness to learn, and the ability to follow
  • written and verbal instruction.
  • Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Smartsheet, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to lift ~50 lbs and work on feet for long periods of time.
