Job Description

As the General Manager for our Security Business Unit,you will drive overall performance and profitability by setting a strategic vision and turning it into actionable plans across Product, Price, Place, and Promotion. You will own P&L accountability, manage and guide cross-functional collaboration with Centers of Excellence, Supply Chain, and Core Functions, and ensure both top- and bottom-line growth. Acting as the single point of contact for your vertical segment, you will foster alignment across teams, make decisive business decisions, and execute with operational excellence. Success in this role requires deep category expertise, strategic thinking, and strong guidance to drive market impact and business results.

Position location: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based out of Deerfield, IL. Effective mid-2025, Fortune Brands will transition to a new world-class campus in Deerfield, bringing together associates from across our U.S. offices, brands, and functions.The campus will offer vibrant workspaces for collaboration, along with amenities for dining, onsite daycare, fitness and recreation.

What you will be doing:

  • Drive P&L Performance: Own the financial success of your vertical segment by delivering annual growth, exceeding market performance, and optimizing profitability and working capital. Develop and execute a 3-year strategy to ensure sustainable success.
  • Shape Category Strategy: Define and execute long-term and short-term category strategies, leveraging insights from customers, competitors, and market trends to maintain a strong market position and drive innovation.
  • Oversee 4P Execution (Product, Price, Place, Promotion)
    • Product: Guide product development, portfolio strategy, and innovation in collaboration with R&D, Supply Chain, and Design teams.
    • Price: Develop strategic pricing models that balance competitiveness and profitability.
    • Place: Influence distribution strategies to optimize product availability across key channels.
    • Promotion: Partner with marketing teams to drive impactful promotional campaigns and brand awareness initiatives.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact for your vertical segment, ensuring alignment across Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Innovation, Supply Chain, R&D, Finance, and Operations to drive execution and financial success.
  • Develop and Empower Teams: Build and cultivate a high-performing team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth. Provide mentorship and clear direction to ensure individual and team success.
  • Engage Key Stakeholders: Establish and maintain strong relationships with retailers, suppliers, and external partners to support category plans and business growth. Communicate performance updates and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in category, brand, or product management within consumer or wholesale/commercial goods industries.
  • 5+ years leading collaborative, cross-functional teams, managing complex projects, and delivering results in a matrixed, team-oriented environment
  • Experience owning a large category P&L and balancing short- and long-term goals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA or advanced degree.
Additional Information

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $275,000 - $350,000. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location.In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
