Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center - Opening April 2025!

When open in early 2025, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health will be the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years! This teaching hospital will integrate clinical care with existing providers, The George Washington University Hospital, and the Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This clinical integration will establish a robust system of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

This full-service hospital will include 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for physician offices, clinics, a community space, a 500-car garage and a helipad for emergency transports.

The CMO is a member of the Hospital executive team, with administrative responsibility for monitoring and ensuring uniform patient care within the integrated delivery system and professional medical services in the Hospital.

  • The CMO is also responsible for collaborating with George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (GW MFA) on the interrelated endeavors of patient care, education and research.
  • The CMO will develop and recommend changes in policy, facilities, equipment and programs related to patient care; lead the medical staff and care management programs; work closely with the Medical Executive Committee; and represent clinical activities of the Hospital to the Governing Board.
  • The CMO also responsible for leadership, reporting and operational management of all quality and safety programs at The Hospital.
  • Oversees the analysis of quality-related data, coordination and measurement of internal and external quality and safety requirements and will provide leadership in strengthening a quality culture.
  • Partners with Hospital Executive Leadership and Providers to optimize quality and patient safety processes into hospital clinical operations and physician practices.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Physician Executive advanced degree is preferred.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience practicing medicine with progressive leadership responsibility in a complex health system required specific to quality, patient safety, and clinical operations which includes overall responsibility for long term strategic growth initiatives.
  • Experience in a community hospital setting is strongly preferred with a track record of sustained superior performance related to quality and safety.
  • In-depth knowledge of national trends and active nationally within the quality, patient safety and performance improvement space.
  • Experience as a leader for performance excellence and quality in a complex organization.
  • Proven experience in establishing strategic priorities and building the infrastructure and team to implement large-scale initiatives and behavioral change across the organization.
  • Experience in strategic planning and collaboration with Hospitals and Physician groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with others are required.
  • An individual who has successfully driven initiatives that require coordination from multiple constituencies.
  • A collaborative and operational leader.
  • Encourages open dialogue and comfortably delegates authority and accountability to ensure sustainable progress.
  • Effective oral and written presentation skills.
  • Efficient in managing time and tasks.

License / Certification Requirements:

  • Active District of Columbia Medical License
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
