Job Summary:

As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management. The Cardiovascular Critical Care NP/PA will manage a caseload of critically ill patients with cardiovascular conditions in a high acuity setting. You will exercise autonomous decision-making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The scope of practice includes daily management as the primary team, discharge planning, patient education, staff education, and research/QI initiatives. The APP will utilize advanced practice skills including advanced levels of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. This role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including intensivists, cardiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care.

Education:

  • NP: Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program with specialization in Acute Care or Critical Care.

  • Must also have a current state licensure as an NP, National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).

  • BLS and ACLS certification required and DEA registration for prescriptive authority.

  • PA: Master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.

  • Must also have a current state licensure as PA, National certification as Physician Assistant (PA-C).

  • BLS and ACLS certification required and DEA registration for prescriptive authority.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a critical care setting preferred.

  • Experience in cardiovascular care and ECMO is highly desirable.

Knowledge/Special Skills:

  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

  • The role involves working in a critical care unit within an academic medical center.

  • Requires rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting patients.

  • Mental acuity to handle high-stress situations and make critical decisions.
