Temporary Internal Auditor - Senior Associate (Financial Services)

We are seeking an experienced Internal Auditor-temporary Senior Associate with a strong background in community and regional banking to join our Internal Audit team on a temporary, mostly remote basis. This role evaluates internal controls and ensures compliance across retail deposits, loan operations, and client services. The ideal candidate will have extensive SOX testing experience and a deep understanding of banking regulations and risk management practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Audit Execution & Testing: Conduct internal audits, including SOX compliance testing, focusing on retail deposits, loan operations, and client services.
• Risk & Control Assessment: Evaluate internal controls' effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to banking regulations, including FDIC, OCC, and Federal Reserve guidelines.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze audit findings, prepare audit reports, and present recommendations to management.
• Process Reviews: Assess operational and financial processes to enhance efficiency and reduce risk exposure.
• Collaboration: Work closely with compliance, risk management, and operations teams to strengthen internal controls.
• Industry Awareness: Stay informed of emerging risks, regulatory changes, and best practices in banking audit functions.
• Must be able to travel to clients' site multiple days a month

Qualifications & Experience

• 4+ years of internal audit experience in a community or regional bank setting.
• Strong expertise in retail deposit operations, loan processing, and client services.
• Hands-on experience with SOX testing, internal controls, and risk assessments.
• Knowledge of COSO, FDICIA, and banking audit frameworks.
• Proficiency in audit software, data analytics tools, and Excel.
• CIA, CPA, CISA, or CRCM certification is a plus.
• Ability to work onsite in Miami, FL 2-3 days per month
