Scope of Position The Community Engagement Coordinator serves in the Office of Health Equity in The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The Office of Health Equity through actions and partnerships, co-creates an inclusive and equitable environment for those who work, learn, engage with the Wexner Medical Center for care and live in the communities we serve. The Community Engagement team creates community trust and partnerships to advance that work, increase access to healthcare and close health disparities in Ohio. The coordinator will:
Position Summary The Community Engagement Coordinator advances the mission of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center by engaging Ohioans to address health disparities, co-create community solutions, and coordinate community partners, to create a healthier Ohio. The ideal candidate will have experience building trust and co-creating community solutions with the many diverse communities in Central Ohio (includes Franklin, Delaware, Union, Madison, Pickaway, Fairfield and Licking counties). This position will be essential in implementing the Office of Health Equitys goals and a candidate should have a basic understanding of the social determinants of health, health disparities and their impacts. A servant leader mindset and a passion for helping communities thrive is essential. Minimum Qualifications Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for programming and events is also required. 4 years professional experience in community engagement, community outreach, community health work or community organizing AND a bachelors degree in a relevant field OR 8 years professional experience in community engagement, community outreach, community health work or community organizing in addition to a High School Diploma or GED.
