Position:Cloud Infrastructure Architect (Azure Focus)

Location:Boston, MA (Hybrid - 2 to 3 days onsite)

Length:9-12 months

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Cloud Infrastructure Architect with a deep focus on Microsoft Azure. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure solutions that align with the organization's cloud strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Azure architecture, governance, security, networking, and automation. This role will require collaboration with cloud engineers, security teams, and application teams to support cloud adoption, scalability, cost optimization, and security best practices.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architecture using Microsoft Azure.
  • Develop reference architectures, best practices, and governance frameworks for hybrid cloud adoption and integration with on-premises environments.
  • Architect and manage Azure networking components (VNets, VPN Gateways, Load Balancers, Azure Firewall, etc.) to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Drive modernization efforts using Azure Virtual WAN, Private Link, and hybrid connectivity solutions.
  • Lead security initiatives, implementing tools like Azure Security Center and Defender for Cloud.
  • Establish governance and compliance frameworks to meet regulatory standards (i.e., NIST, GDPR, HIPAA), and manage Azure IAM (Azure AD, RBAC, and PIM).
  • Develop cost governance strategies, leveraging Azure Cost Management, Reserved Instances, and cloud cost optimization practices.
  • Collaborate with finance teams for cost forecasts and budget controls.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, and PowerShell.
  • Oversee CI/CD integration and enforce policy management using Azure Blueprints, Azure Policy, and Desired State Configuration (DSC).

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7+ years in cloud architecture with a strong focus on Azure infrastructure.
  • Advanced understanding of Azure networking, security, compute, storage, and hybrid cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency with Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, and PowerShell for automating cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure AD, RBAC, PIM, Conditional Access, Zero Trust Security, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Expertise in Azure network components such as VNets, VPNs, ExpressRoute, Load Balancers, and Azure Firewall.
  • Proven track record in cloud cost governance, Reserved Instances, FinOps, and budget forecasting.
  • Experience using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights for managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience in multi-cloud environments (Azure & AWS) is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerization technologies is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Azure SQL, CosmosDB, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Synapse Analytics is a plus.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust security models and cloud governance frameworks is a plus.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) is required (Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) and DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400) is preferred).
