Description
Summary: Responsible for cleaning patient rooms, restrooms, and support areas including offices. Must follow stipulated infection control cleaning procedures following each patient check-out. Enhances and presents a positive image of the hospital and a professional manner toward other associates, medical staff, patients, and the public. Involves provision of patient care/service to older adolescents, young adults, adults, and geriatric patients. Responsibilities:
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Requests and receives cleaning equipment and supplies such as mops, buckets, electric buffers, vacuum cleaners, rags, disinfectants, and the like from the Environmental Service Supply Room, and prepares cleaning solutions.
- Loads hand-pushed utility cart with supplies and equipment and pushes cart to assigned work area.
- Dry and wet mop and vacuum large areas of floors and operate buffing equipment.
- Performs heavy-duty cleaning of floors and carpet. In doing so, remove soil and finish floors by using mechanical stripping equipment and shampoo carpeted floors by operating mechanical shampooing equipment.
- Washes, scrubs, and disinfects walls, windows, and doors, and when necessary, determines the method of removing stains, using a variety of cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Gathers refuse from various hospital locations and transports same in hand pushed cart to compactor or shoot.
- Move furniture and equipment (such as mattresses, beds and cribs, tables, etc.) by use of had cart or dollies.
- Performs related service tasks such as cleaning spills, washing windows and other glass surfaces, spraying insecticides, making patient beds, dusting surfaces, and hanging cubicle curtains and draperies.
- Visually inspect the area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleanliness and neatness have been achieved.
- Returns unused supplies to the utility room, cleans carts and equipment and ensures all items are stored in an orderly.
- Report any environmental/safety hazards to the supervisor for repair.
- Follows all OSHA guidelines while on duty and during the use of all cleaning chemicals.
- Daily patient room checkouts are to be cleaned using established check-out cleaning procedures. Normal time for check-out cleaning - 30 minutes.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: Education/Skills
- High School diploma or GED required
Experience
- 1 - 3 years of technical experience preferred
