The Role A Presidio Principal Solutions Architect (SA) leads the presales discovery, analysis, organizational architectures, operational designs, business process engineering, and proposals of relevant solutions that map to customer outcomes and requirements through direct client engagement. The purpose of this role is to infuse Presidio and its clients with sound strategy, well-defined operating models, business process excellence, and high-impact enablement. This candidate will help the Digital Strategy discipline be a beacon of thought leadership, innovation, premiere customer experience, and management consulting best practices for all of Presidio. A Principal SA effectively and efficiently leverages presales methodologies, technical acumen, key relationships (clients, internal Presidio stakeholders and vendor partners), and context analysis (Industry, Customer, Technical, Sales) to position and recommend solutions that that deliver long term value.

Travel Requirements: In this role you will be expected to travel up to 25%. It will be based in any location in the United States, with preference given to the Midwest/Central region. The candidate will be empowered to contract with account managers (AMs), DSAEs, and their colleagues to defer travel or find alternative means to travel (e.g., WebEx, virtual workshops, etc.). The practice's success depends on its relationships withAMs, DSAEs, and their leaders, so the candidate must prioritize in-person and virtual relationship building

Responsibilities include:



  • Understand Customer Current State. Proactively drive discovery and understanding of customer IT current state, goals, outcomes, and initiatives across Business, Technical, Operational, and financial facets. Research industry trends and topics and develop discovery approaches. Develop and lead workshops to drive relevant discovery. Document customer current state to assist customer and sales teams target future state architectures and roadmaps
  • Opportunity Leadership. Identify customer stakeholders and their individual success criteria and needs. Create and lead organizational/operational solution approaches and next steps aligned to customer stakeholders. Align, vet and coordinate Presidio and vendor partner technical resources as needed. Engage Manager/VP/Director-level clients directly. Proactively communicate opportunities, risks, issues, dependencies, questions, and insights with a wide-range of stakeholders during the pursuit & delivery process, flexing your sense of ownership and initiative in the process.
  • Solution Architecture, Design and Documentation. Analyze and assess client requirements; determine target architectures; design solutions roadmaps; and more. Create and deliver compelling technical proposals directly to clients, including relevant drawings, diagrams, and analysis.
  • Excellence & Evangelism. Maintain a high level of organizational/operational excellence and evangelism - as it pertains to modern IT and engineering disciplines - across multiple relevant solution architecture and product areas. Lead the curation and delivery of relevant organizational/operational knowledge, presentations, and conversations at all client levels and customer-related events. Actively participate in organizational/operational champion programs and communities. Attain certifications when appropriate. Learn, discuss and present new and emerging Product-, AppDev-, and IT-related topics.
  • Account Leadership. Actively participate in client account-related activities that establish the Principal SA as a trusted advisor internally and with customers, such as: Account planning, EBCs, social events, etc.
  • Delivery Feedback Loop. Identify opportunities to tighten the Presales-Delivery feedback loop. Actively seek opportunities to deliver discreet, limited-duration, high-value work to help grow the Digital Strategy discipline with real-life, cutting-edge lessons, methodologies, approaches, etc. Expectation that this role begin by delivering ~30 hrs/week, while shadowing the practice director and others to grow their Presales capability. Over time this delivery expectation may lessen. The candidate can and should continuously contract with the discipline lead to ensure the candidate's career goals are known and prioritized, in accordance with the Digital practice's mission.
  • Team Engagement and Enable Culture.   • Partner Relationships. Develop working relationships with vendor partner teams and peers. Contribute to and drive execution of relevant partner vendor GTM strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation. Actively plan and execute growth and career development activities. Seek and collaborate on improvements to presales processes and GTM strategies.
  • Enable Others. Contribute to the success of others in sales and presales. Actively mentor and enable others. Share methods, content, and lessons learned with others.


Required Skills and Professional Experience



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • 10+ years of working experience in business management consulting, with focus on technology strategy and organizational effectiveness, preferably Big Four or high-performing boutique firms
  • An understanding and knowledge of common IT operating models, frameworks, and practices - e.g., ITIL, DevOps, SRE, etc.
  • An understanding and knowledge of cloud adoption models and approaches
  • Experience in applying proven consulting methodologies to assess a client's current state; design a client's target state; conduct a gap analysis; and define a roadmap to get from current state to target state across people, process, and technology
  • Desire to build business capability canvases, or equivalent, and mapping business outcomes to technology capabilities and IT investments
  • Desire to build business cases, with preference for cloud business cases as part of a client's cloud journey or digital transformation
  • Strong experience and passion for designing/implementing at least one of the following domains:Multi-modal operating models; centers of excellence; enterprise architecture functions; FinOps capabilities; DevSecOps delivery models; Agile Delivery methodologies; and more
  • Drive for trying new ideas and actively seek mentoring and coaching
  • Demonstrated comfort leading presentations, solution demonstrations, and whiteboard sessions


Preferred Skills and Professional Experience:



  • Knowledge and experience with design, implementation, and/or support of Agile practices and frameworks: Kanban, SAFe, Scrum
  • Presales experience with a strong bias for action
  • Program management or project management experience
  • Experience driving complex multi-discipline IT projects
  • Experience and/or ability to prepare RFP/RFI responses, proposals, and solutions
  • Demonstrated comfort leading CIO/CTO-level presentations, solution demonstrations, and whiteboard sessions
  • Experience with reviewing and/or writing statements of work (SOW) and Bill of Material (BoM) for various types of projects in support of Cloud and datacenter solutions
