The Senior Associate Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration ( SAVC) oversees two divisions at NC State: Environmental Health and Public Safety ( EHPS) and University Real Estate and Development ( URED).


  • EHPS manages safety, security, emergency preparedness, and transportation across the university, collaborating with internal and external partners. Its departments include Environmental Health and Safety, Emergency Preparedness, University Police, Risk Assessment, Security Technologies, and Transportation.



  • URED is responsible for managing the university's land assets to support its mission, with departments in Asset Management, Centennial Campus Placemaking, Real Estate Development, and Real Estate Services.
Essential Job Duties
This exciting new role offers the chance to provide leadership and oversight to the communications and engagement activities for the dynamic Divisions of Environmental Health and Public Safety ( EHPS) and University Real Estate and Development ( URED) under the leadership of the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor ( SAVC). As a key member of both leadership teams, you'll have the opportunity to shape the direction of communications and public relations strategies that impact not only the Divisions but the entire NC State community.

You'll develop and implement impactful communication strategies, offering expert advice to the SAVC on a wide range of public relations matters playing a vital role in shaping how the Divisions are viewed both within the university and beyond.

This role is all about building connections. You'll lead the development of a comprehensive communications, marketing, and engagement plan that aligns with the Divisions' strategic goals. You'll work collaboratively with the SAVC to communicate vision and reinforce culture and celebrate the important work of the Divisions. Your work will spotlight the Divisions' successes and impact, engaging key partners and stakeholders across the university, state, and region. You'll also work with departmental communications teams within the Divisions to support their specific efforts. You will also work with the SAVC on key communications, presentations and collateral in support of the Divisions' key goals and strategiex.

In addition, you'll oversee the creation and execution of a variety of print and digital content, marketing campaigns, media relations, and public relations strategies for the Divisions. You'll oversee the strategy for online presence, collaborating with department leaders and communications staff to ensure consistency across all channels.

A key part of your success will be building strong relationships with University Communications and Marketing, leading the charge in maintaining a consistent and powerful brand identity for both NC State and the Divisions, ensuring all communications align with the university's values and vision.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience.
Other Required Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Expertise in crafting and executing impactful social media strategies that engage diverse audiences and elevate brand presence.
  • Track record of developing and executing strategic communication and marketing plans that drive results and enhance visibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate on high-energy team projects, building lasting professional relationships that position the Divisions and their programs for success.
  • Skilled at writing compelling, clear, and persuasive content that resonates with various audiences and drives action.
  • Keen understanding of brand consistency, with the ability to create content that aligns seamlessly with established brand guidelines.
  • Exceptional writing and editing abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing polished, high-quality content.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience (5-7 years) in communications and marketing within a higher education environment, with a deep understanding of the unique needs and opportunities in academia.
  • Preferred expertise in using Adobe Creative Suite to create visually compellingcontent that enhances communication strategies and brand identity.
