Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Palliative Care APP

Location: Southfield, Michigan

Inpatient/Outpatient: 100% adult palliative care, all inpatient.

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a full-time Palliative Care APP position. This role will focus 100% on inpatient adult palliative care, requiring acute care experience and the ability to work independently with full autonomy. Preference will be given to candidates with prior palliative care experience as an NP/PA or RN, and advanced certification in hospice and palliative care is encouraged but not required. A passion for aligning patient goals with the care provided is essential. New graduates are welcome to apply. There will be no OR time, and the primary location will be the Southfield campus, with occasional shifts at Novi based on need, though this will not be a common occurrence.

In collaboration with a physician, provides for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions. Responsibilities: Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.| Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.| Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.| Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Required Credential(s): - Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office. - Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office. - BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA. Verified by local Credentialing Office. Education: - Master's degree of Nursing required.

Qualifications:

* NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

* PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

* NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

* PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Licensure and Certification

* Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)

* National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)

* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required by

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

* DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.

DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL.

Experience

* Physician Assistant must have palliative care or hospice experience.

* Palliative care training, certification, and prior experience will be given priority.

Skills

* Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
