"Destination Grand," a $2.2 billion development underway, includes a vastly expanded Henry Ford Hospital, with a new hospital facility and patient tower to open in 2029. Under direct supervision, retrieves soiled items, delivers sterile instruments and supplies to designated areas. Assembles OR case carts while maintaining quality standards, decontaminates instruments, assembles general instrument trays, sterilizes a variety of instruments and supplies. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent GED is required. Additional healthcare training or central service experience preferred. Ability to read, write, and follow oral/written instructions required. Successful completion of an on-the-job training of up to two months required. A recent graduate of a Sterile Processing program or 1-year of related healthcare experience. Visual ability required to complete inspections, assembly, reading tray assembly checklists. Extensive walking and standing are a requirement of this position. Must be able to work in a flexible and changing environment. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and push loaded heavy carts. May be exposed to noisy equipment, aerosols, chemical detergents, needles, blades, sharp instruments, body fluids and tissues, wet floors, steam and a hot and humid environment.
