Apply broad cross-functional experience and technical skills to direct significant logistics operations of a division, area, or multiple locations. Oversee initiatives and establish best practices for multiple logistical functions such as logistics operations, logistics planning and optimization, third-party logistics, transportation, private fleet operations, warehousing, and distribution. Develop and direct the implementation of long and short-range business strategies and action plans to improve the profitability, regulatory compliance, safety, customer service, and product quality of the organization as it relates to logistics. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Contribute to the strategic planning efforts and customer RFPs while communicating regularly with senior management to ensure that the company continues to maximize its short and long-term contributions to overall corporate growth and profitability * Oversee strategy execution and operations including third-party logistics (3PLs), outbound logistics, returns, design, capabilities, and infrastructure * Assess operational performance, identify weaknesses or risk, and implement changes to improve efficiency or reduce costs * Optimize intra-division logistical activities; create integrated processes among internal functions (e.g., operations, procurement/purchasing and logistics) and outside suppliers * Partner with sales and marketing to secure/coordinate new customers, drive promotions for increased business, and address service issues with customers as appropriate * Directly oversee or lead critical or high-value projects or initiatives impacting overall logistics operations * Ensure effective management of vendor relationships; work with vendors to resolve critical logistics issues * Oversee logistics budgets for all facilities and functions within operations. This includes value analysis of systems, operating performance, people capability, processes, value added activities, labor management, fleet utilization, and fleet asset maintenance to achieve profit, quality, service level, value and safety of all products produced * Establish capital plans and budgets, which maintain operations, ensure safety, increase productivity, satisfy customer demand, and meet the anticipated future needs. Formulate, recommend, and implement capital expenditure budgets to provide optimal productive capacity and capability to meet operational objectives * Provide leadership and act as a role model to drive employee engagement and cultural changes needed to reach best-in-class operational performance * Utilize continuous improvement (CI) resources in building team capability and approach work with a CI mindset * Lead operational sustainability to support utilizing resources efficiently and take an active role in ensuring that the organization is contributing to our industry and community social responsibility efforts * Ensure all direct reports understand, cascade and achieve the established goals and key metrics. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all KPIs, forecasts, and other reporting requirements * Manage multiple teams led by directors, senior managers and managers. Lead and direct the work of employees and perform management actions including hiring, performance management, talent development, and proper coaching and training * The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required * Undergraduate degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education) * Master's degree or MBA preferred * 12 or more years of progressively more responsible positions in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related experience coupled with 4+ years of people management experience that includes leading managers and multiple departments * Financial responsibility experience * Experience leading significant projects and change management in the area of supply chain (with demonstrated accomplishments) * Experience implementing or highly involved in continuous improvement program preferred * Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Strong knowledge of the principles, practices, and economics of distribution and logistics * Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to maintain effective working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders (customers, suppliers, contractors, employees, executives, etc.) * Strong leadership and project management skills * Proficient in analytics and problem solving at both the strategic and functional levels with the ability to take concepts and strategies and move them into successful implementation * Able to lead and manage change for a significant area of responsibility (division, area, multi-locations) * Able to lead and inspire people and achieve results through others * Able to develop, mentor and coach team for optimal effectiveness * Able to implement a culture of continuous improvement across multi-site organization (culture, talent development, tools, metrics, sustainability, etc.) * Must be able to read, write and speak English An Equal Opportunity Employer |
