JOB SUMMARY Works under minimal supervision to provide skilled work of journeyman level involved in installation, repair, and maintenance of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment used in buildings throughout university. Works in a hospital environment with the main responsibility maintaining and repairing ice machines and DX units. This is a Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm position. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required Education High School Diploma or vocational school Licenses and Certifications (CFC) CHLOROFLUOROCARBNS TECHN CERT by the State of Texas and Preferred Experience 3 years skilled or journeyman level experience as Refrigeration or air-conditioning mechanic, repair knowledge of ice machine or walking cooler/Freezers/Roof top units Licenses and Certifications ARC, TDLR license or NATE Certification is a plus. JOB DUTIES Overhauls and services freon air-conditioning and refrigeration units; repairing, replacing, or adjusting worn or broken parts on condensers, compressors, water and vacuum pumps. Tests equipment for refrigerant leaks, adding freon to refrigeration units as needed and checks gauges for proper operation. Repairs or adjusts valves, piping connections, fittings, and couplings. Removes or installs motors, thermostats, and humidistats, and adjusts expansion valves. Makes inspections for preventive maintenance. May provide working supervision to Maintenance Workers and/or Crafts Trade Trainees. Performs other duties as assigned.
