Overview

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Endo Scrub HCT functions as a support to the licensed nursing staff and performs activities related to the personal care and hygiene needs of an assigned patient group. Facilitates communication with other departments, visitors, patients, medical staff and employees. Serves as a public relations liaison for the unit. Works under the direct supervision of the nursing manager.
Qualifications

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: H.S. Diploma/GED, Work Experience: Worked as CNA within past 24 months; Successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program; Relevant medical military training; Completion of CNA coursework within past 24 months; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); At least one semester of nursing clinical experience;


Responsibilities

Assists with the maintenance of unit supplies to ensure the smooth function of the unit, including stocking cubicles, cleaning equipment, ordering supplies, and making up charts.Collects data on assigned patients as directed by Registered Nurse (RN) and ensures accurate documentation. Provide appropriate and timely documentation in the patient's electronic health record using standardized workflows and processes.Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills as outlined in the skills checklist including: measurement of vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and obtaining height and weight.Performs or assists patients with the activities of daily living. Assists with surgical site prep and chlorhexidine bathing as appropriate. Prepares patients for transportation and/or transport.Provides assistance to physicians during endoscopic procedures.
Maintains knowledge of gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures.
Maintains knowledge of pulmonary procedures.
Assists with handling endoscopic instrumentation during procedures as requested.
Provides assistance with procedures involving patients of all ages.
Maintains knowledge of equipment used in the department set up and physician preferences (scope size, type of forceps, etc.).
Ensures patient safety by utilizing equipment properly and maintaining clean/sterile technique as indicated.Performs appropriate decontamination and reprocessing of endoscopic equipment.
Maintains knowledge of department equipment.
Cleans and disinfects scopes and other equipment to prevent cross-contamination and promote patient safety.
Utilizes care when handling equipment to prevent downtime of the equipment and prevent costly repairs.
Alerts the Lead RN and/or Nurse Manager of equipment problems promptly.
Safely monitors and mixes high level disinfectant solutions.
Monitors expiration of monitoring strips associated with scope management.
Implements scope management program.Supports quality improvement activities within the department and maintains inventory of equipment and accessories.
Maintain scope inventory and scope labeling.
Maintains adequate department inventory of patient supplies; ensuring adequate inventory is available.Collect and prepare blood samples using a consistent patient labeling identification system for performing routine laboratory procedures.Assure the reliability and safety of blood products utilizing appropriate collection and processing procedures to avoid inadequate specimens.
Demonstrate an understanding of established policies and procedures.Demonstrates competence in the skills necessary to carry out assigned duties by participating in competency reviews and proficiency testing on a regular basis.Obtains complete scheduling information in an accurate, efficient and professional manner. Consistently determines proper scheduling requirements and/or limitations according to requested procedure. Schedules patients accurately in a timely manner to ensure customer expectations are met. Communicates with various ancillary departments to identify potential scheduling conflicts. Demonstrates the ability to work with various physician offices as well as other customers in scheduling procedures.Assists with patient registration/check in to the department. Uses professional language and efficient workflows to meet patients expectations and reduce delays.Use AIDET with patient and family when getting and rooming patient. Take vitals, secure belongings, apply leggings, garments as appropriate. Order supplies/ put away supplies/ stock. Make and transport carts. Assist with patient needs, blanket, restroom, etc. Demonstrate competency in skills and recording in vital signs, blood, glucose monitoring, output, urine pregnancy.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $17.53per hour - $28.4per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
