Two years with the possibility of renewal depending on performance and availability of funding Application Window Open date: March 13, 2025 Next review date: Friday, Mar 28, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Wednesday, Apr 23, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Nuclear Engineering Department at the University of California, Berkeley is seeking a Postdoctoral Employee to perform nuclear data validation and experimental reactor physics benchmarking analyses. In 2020 the PETALE experiment was conducted at the CROCUS reactor at EPFL in Switzerland. This position will create a benchmark evaluation for the International Criticality Safety Benchmark Evaluation Project to be submitted in 2026. The PETALE experiment specifically targeted cross-section data associated with metals used in nuclear reactors (Fe, Cr, etc.). The work will mostly consist of creating detailed neutronics models of the CROCUS reactor and the specific modifications for PETALE. The position will require extensive traveling to Lausanne, Switzerland to communicate with researchers as part of the benchmark evaluation process. Other responsibilities will include mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and preparing the results of research for publication. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to give occasional guest lectures.
