About the Role:
The purpose of this role is to provide efficient, accurate and timely delivery of indirect tax advisory, compliance, and advocacy. The role will hold the following key accountabilities:
- Provision of Technical advice in respect of US indirect taxes, including Sales & Use Tax, Property Tax, WHT and Excise.
- Transactional project support, including M&A, new ventures, commercial agreements and contract reviews.
- Management of indirect tax software, including Vertex, S4H master data and OneSource WHT reporting.
- Involvement in the preparation of timely and accurate US Indirect tax compliance.
- Involvement in preparation of international indirect tax returns, including GST, VAT, Withholding Tax and other imposts/levies.
- Development of business partner relationships with key stakeholders within the business and externalregulators and advisors.
- Management of regulatory audits and disputes.
- Continuous improvement and efficiency of processes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Corporate
- Abide by Code of Conduct (including necessary training) and ABC requirements, providing 'leadership through example' to other local staff and contractors.
- Meet all Woodside Health and Safety standards and policies, providing 'leadership through example' to other local staff and contractors.
- Deliver on instructions from the Tax Manager Americas or the Head of Indirect Tax
- Ensure compliance with all tax laws.
Business support
- Assist in tax function improvement/teaming initiatives.
- Provide education and support to business in respect to correct application of tax.
- Provision of technical and commercial advice and support to meet business needs.
- Transaction project and M&A support.
- Business partnering with internal business stakeholders.
- Assist in tax function improvement/teaming initiatives.
Compliance
- US Indirect Tax compliance.
- International indirect tax returns, including GST, VAT, Withholding Tax, and other imposts/levies.
- Management of audits and disputes.
- Indirect tax software management.
- Maintenance of processes and procedure.
- Continuous improvement of indirect tax compliance processes.
Skills & Experience:
Skills
- Strong English (oral and written) communication skills.
- Attention to detail in preparing accurate tax forms/returns/work papers.
- Computer skills, particularly Microsoft office applications.
- S4H and Vertex skills.
- Automation and Data Analytics applications (Alteryx, Power BI), highly desirable.
- Managing the timely achievement of tax compliance deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identifying inefficiencies in business activity and providing sustainable solutions to drive changes in process.
- Ability to influence internal stakeholders to adopt changes in practices demonstrated analytical and investigated skills.
- Proficient in tax research and analysis.
- Ability to effectively evaluate tax risks/benefits.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Vertex, OneSource WHT.
- Strong MS Office software skills.
- Oil & gas or mining industry experience a plus.

Qualifications
- Tertiary level qualification in tax or accounting.
- Professional qualification (CPA/ICAA, Bar member) or similar tax qualifications, either completion or currently pursuing will be added advantage.
- Experience in the provision of tax advisory, reporting, and compliance service processes in a multinational business and/or professional services firm.
