SUMMARY:

IT Business Analyst is a project management / business analyst hybrid role that supports Company system enhancement projects related to electric market transaction processing. Project implementation responsibilities from initial functional design and requirements gathering to client testing and post-production stabilization involve collaboration with other business units and Information Technology teams in an agile environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead and/or participate in projects from initial design and functional design to testing and post-production stabilization, by providing project management, leadership, and functional expertise
  • Use research and fact finding combined with a basic understanding of e-commerce, business systems, regulatory, and industry requirements to pinpoint problems and resolve them
  • Participate in system enhancement projects using agile methodology
  • Formulate and define systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements
  • Conduct analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements including functional detailed design, and translation into proper system requirement specifications
  • Manage and develop unit and end to end test scenarios and test scripts based on business need and in compliance with electric market rules and protocols
  • Create and run the code of SQL scripts to customize transaction variations needed as pre-requisites for test scripts
  • Code and configure testing software to automate test scripts
  • Execute test scripts within different system environments as defined by the project phases: system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing and hyper care
  • Lead and participate in environment shakeouts and data preparation
  • Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering business applications capabilities and limitations for desired results
  • Work closely with management, peers, Information Technology, and other departments in a team environment
  • Create, monitor, and report project status as needed
  • Lead teams in successful development of solution requirements, testing, implementation, and training all to the satisfaction of client and systems resources
  • Knowledge of transaction management and Texas SET EDI guidelines


EDUCATION:



  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required. In lieu of a degree, any combination of applicable college education and applicable experience equal to five years will be considered.


EXPERIENCE:



  • Requires a minimum of four (4) years of work and business experience within the Texas Retail Electric Market or Utility industry and project management is required. Acceptable experience includes roles in automated solution planning, developing, coding in Sequel (SQL), scenario and requirement development, pseudo coding of an automated testing system, and testing in various environments.
