Responsibilities

Admissions Review

  • Oversee the application review and selection process as directed.
  • Uses extensive knowledge of college / school / department requirements and applicant pool, to assess the applicants' overall record and experience for final admissions determination and recommendation.
  • Assesses academic preparedness of traditional, special-program, and international applicants. Evaluates transcripts and international records for eligibility.
  • Evaluate and determine whether prospective applicant should be interviewed.
  • Manage interview process; suggest, select and team student and alumni interviewers.
  • Assesses applicants for motivation, initiative, leadership potential, work / life experience, extracurricular activities, socioeconomic status, disability, and educational / personal hardship
  • Other duties as assigned.

Admissions Program Management

  • Evaluates the program on a regular basis, including tracking participant outcomes; establishes systems for data collection/tracking; surveys participants in the program to identify areas of strength and weakness within the program and to make data-driven decisions for program changes or improvements.
  • Oversee the applicant preparation progress, evaluate and approve all preparation progresses and ensure completeness.
  • Oversee the background check processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Admissions Recruitment

  • Performs recruitment activities, and represent the MFE program at admissions events as well as at corporate/professional organization events through-out the United States and globally.
  • Under guidance of the Director of Admissions, plans, organizes and/or assists with events to enhance recruitment. Counsel prospective applicants regarding admission requirements, Haas programs, and preparation for MFE study.
  • Assesses effectiveness in attracting quality students to Berkeley Haas MFE.
  • Provides in-depth information via telephone, email, and in person on the MFE admissions requirements, prerequisite courses, school/college programs and curricula, specific financial aid criteria, and career opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Admissions Yield & Marketing

  • Supports Director of Admissions in planning, managing, and implementing events to enhance recruitment and yield for MFE, including student and alumni outreach efforts, diversity initiative events, MFE pre-program outreach, electronic communications, and similar activities.
  • Participate in application yield call strategy and coordination.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of competitive programs and offerings.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of admissions and/or recruitment programs and makes recommendations for recruitment strategies to enhance yield.
  • Makes suggestions for and facilitates other website improvements with an eye for outreach to diverse individuals and communities.
  • Disseminates information across a variety of marketing channels, including email, social media, webinars, blog post, newsletters, etc. Stay abreast of new technology and tools to enhance outreach.
  • Researches and inquires about opportunities to partner with STEM organizations, including both in-person presentations and virtual panels with students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Engages in ongoing education to promote diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging by completing University sponsored certifications & training sessions (Ie: MEP Workshop, Implicit Bias Certification, LinkedIn Learning workshops, and other workshops & seminars offered by the University or Haas, as they are made available) or by engaging in external seminars & resources related to DEIB.

Required Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate University policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
  • Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs, at colleges / universities and specifically at UC, and / or specific colleges and schools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other institutions.
  • Ability to develop recruitment programs, and design effective materials.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to make and support admissions recommendations and decisions in a highly competitive admissions environment and to efficiently review large numbers of applications on time and with solid judgment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision as well as be an integral member of a team-oriented office.
  • Must be available and willing to travel through-out the United States and globally.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $66,700.00 - $91,600.00

  • This is a 100% full-time (40 hours per week), career position that is eligible for full UC benefits.
  • This position is exempt and paid monthly.
  • This is not a visa opportunity
