As a Safety Engineer II for Milwaukee Tool, you will be located at our Corporate - Global Design Headquarters in Brookfield, WI. You will work in a fast-paced environment to define Product Safety Requirements as a member of a cross-functional design team. You will utilize engineering skills to contribute to the development and qualification of new products for the Power Tools business unit.

Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Product Safety, you will work with other Safety Engineers with experience and background in this field. Your primary duty is to assist in the coordination and execution of Hazard Analysis Reviews of Milwaukee products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise Project Leaders, Product Managers, Design Engineers, and Reliability Engineers regarding product safety requirements, including tests and design constraints to minimize risk of injury and/or property damage.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to incorporate compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and rules into the product safety analysis. Where requirements are unclear, assist in obtaining an interpretation from the appropriate authority.
  • Evaluate information and develop opinion(s) related to the safety of a concept, design, or product.
  • Conduct design reviews and construction reviews. Review test results and determine acceptability.
  • Review and provide feedback for operator's manuals and on-product markings.
  • Support new safety engineers during their onboarding process

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or technical equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience handling regulatory and/or product safety activities, preferably associated with power tools, lithium-ion batteries, and/or consumer products.
  • Understanding of safety and risk topics affecting Milwaukee power tool, battery, and outdoor power equipment products.
  • Familiar with Hazard Based Analysis and Fault Tree Analysis techniques.
  • Familiar with OSHA General Industry and Construction regulations.
  • Possess verbal, written and organizational skills essential to professional communication.
  • Show an emphasis on and adherence to schedule and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally, as necessary.
  • High interest in Power Tools and tools of the trade.
