What you'll do

Our Commercial Aviation technical sales team is responsible for supporting business development with technology inputs during the entire pursuit life-cycle, including prior to, during and post- award. This team leads the efforts in communicating and presenting to our customers about competitive benefits of Viasat products, responding to RFPs, and answering techno-commercial questions. The Tech Sales team members are our product evangelists and represent Viasat at trade forums, events and conferences.


The day-to-day

  • Providing pre-sales support to the Business development and Account teams on new and ongoing pursuits
  • Technical engagement with the customers, making technical pitches and presentations
  • Evaluating and responding to technical queries and helping achieve a mutually acceptable fit between customer requirements and the product portfolio/ roadmap
  • SLA negotiations
  • Supporting the contracts team during contract negotiations, and into customer onboarding

What you'll need

  • 10+ years of hands on experience in Technical sales/ Business development in the Aviation industry and a Bachelor's in Engineering or technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on IFEC Presales experience
  • Experience responding to RFPs and compliance matrices, and connecting these to technical and commercial proposals
  • Ability to partner with the product specialists to understand the current product capabilities/ product roadmaps and help demonstrate how our product capabilities meet or surpass customer requirements
  • Ability to highlight commercial, technical and service advantages of the Viasat services
  • Ability to make effective customer presentations
  • Understanding of IFEC market, competing technologies and competitive advantages

Salary range

$149,500.00 - $212,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $185,500.00- $251,500.00/ annually
