Sterile Processing Tech III - Day Surgery

Your role with us

As a Sterile Processing Technician III, you will be a vital contributor to ensuring the highest standards of surgical safety and operational efficiency at Salem Health. Leveraging your advanced expertise, attention to detail, and organizational acumen, you will oversee the cleaning, sterilization, preparation, and secure storage of instruments. In this senior role, you will also be responsible for preparing complex case carts for the Operating Room, ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are precisely organized for critical procedures. Your leadership in sterilization practices will support exceptional patient outcomes and uphold the integrity of our surgical services.

What you'll do

• Decontaminates and sterilizes surgical instruments and equipment per established protocols and manufacturer instructions.
• Inspects, assembles, and prepares surgical trays, packs, and case carts for procedures.
• Ensures compliance with biological, chemical, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Maintains expert knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterilization processes.
• Supports and trains lower-level Sterile Processing Technicians; promotes effective team communication.
• Manages vendor loaner instruments, including verification, tracking, and coordination with surgical schedules.
• Collaborates with OR staff to ensure timely availability and accuracy of surgical instruments.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and cross-functional teams to enhance department performance.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Certification required at hire (CRCST or CSPDT) and maintained.
  
  
• Minimum of 2 years related experience with surgical instrumentation in hospital Sterile Processing environment.
