Overview: This is an exciting position in the incredibly fast paced semiconductor industry. Ideal for a self-motivated individual who likes to solve technical challenges faced on state-of-the-art, complex manufacturing machines in a hands-on manner. The candidate should have a technical degree. Basic knowledge of Semiconductor, Thin Film, MEMS or similar manufacturing process steps is a plus. A Process Development Engineerwill need to have excellent data analysis capability, clear communications skills (verbal and written), be excited to work collaborativelywith cross-functional internal engineering teams and with international customers to demonstrate and develop new technologies. Responsibilities:
- Support the development and demonstration of wet chemistry processes to existing and potential customers either in our laboratory in Horsham PA, or at customer sites internationally.
- Support and conduct process qualifications of Veeco tools according to Veeco/customer specifications.
- Operate state of the art chemical process equipment.
- Analyze test results and present reports on process development and/or customer demonstrations.
- Work closely with Engineering team of many disciplines. (ChE, Chemistry, ME, EE, and Comp Sci.).
- Research new techniques and develop solutions to problems experienced during various testing and qualifications phases.
- Tool set up and clean up before and after process demonstrations, including loading and disposal of chemistry.
- Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of equipment.
- Operate and perform preventative maintenance on Veeco equipment and various types of metrology equipment (SEM, profilometer, refractometer, microscopes, etc.)
- Learn and be competent with software programs to execute process testing and runs.
- Use mechanical, electrical, or plumbing techniques to independently diagnose and fix electro/mechanical issues.
- Work with semiconductor production equipment, including chemical/mechanical/electrical upgrades or modifications to accommodate customer applications.
- Be comfortable working with various types of chemicals (solvents, acids, bases) in a fume hood environment and charging systems with the same chemistry on a larger scale.
- Adhere to all Veeco safety policies and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering,Mechanical Engineering , Material Science, Chemistry, Software preferredor a related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Semiconductor tool experience preferred but not necessary, should be comfortable with quantitative structured problem solving.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of chemical, mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to perform data analysis (python, JMP, or MatLab or preferred environment).
- Experience working in semiconductor or similar clean room fabs is desirable.
- Knowledge of and experience with Metrology Equipment such as optical microscope, SEM, AFM, ellipsometer, surface particle measurement, profilometer, and four-point probe is ideal. A willingness to learn these techniques is required.
- Proficient in machine learning and AI, with a strong ability to develop and implement predictive optimization algorithms, deep learning, supervised and unsupervised learning for solving complex problems, particularly in high-precision manufacturing environments is nice to have.
- Strong data analysis skills, with programming expertise in languages such as Python or R, and familiarity with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras is nice to have.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (Word and Excel) and ability to learn other software packages for equipment operation and data collection.
- Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) in order to interact with colleagues, document activities, procedures and best-known practices for servicing.
- Must have ability to work independently to achieve goals and occasionally the flexibility to work various shifts.
- Willingness and ability to follow procedures and adhere to safety protocols.
- Ability to work in clean-room attire and wear appropriate safety gear (PPE) as required.
- Ability to routinely lift, pull or push objects of up to 50 pounds (mainly specialty chemicals and toolboxes).
- Willingness to travel to customer site (domestic or international) if necessary (up to 30% of the time).
The expected salary range for this position is $88,054.00 - $111,535.70, plus bonus opportunity. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors. Other benefits include:
