Brown and Caldwell's Private Sector Enterprise (PSE) is seeking a self-motivated Hydrogeologist/Geologist to join our team. This is a position with excellent growth potential with the successful candidate contributing to an established team of talented hydrogeologists, scientists, and engineers.

Detailed Description:



  • Provide technical support on a variety of water resources and environmental services projects.
  • Perform both field and office work, as needed.
  • Office work will include technical report writing, review/QC/analysis of field and laboratory data, generating boring logs and geologic cross sections, and the preparation of maps - opportunities for more complex and technical office duties.
  • Execute and task manage diverse projects for industrial clients.
  • Manage tasks and assignments to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Communicate findings and problems to senior staff and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Work independently and lead multi-discipline teams to meet project objectives.
  • Devise and/or implement field programs.
  • Apply knowledge of geology and hydrogeology to aid development and management of groundwater resources for clients.
  • Field work includes (but not limited to) sampling soil, surface water, groundwater; overseeing drilling operations, borehole logging, well installation; coordinating/oversight of construction and drilling subcontractors.
  • Field assignments require travel at all times of the year with overnight stay outside the Boise area, potentially for extended periods of time
  • Field assignments require ability to perform physically demanding work



Desired Skills and Experience:



  • BS Degree in hydrogeology, geology or environmental science (or related field) with 5+ years of experience in hydrogeological investigations; MS Degree a plus
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is preferred but not required
  • 24-hour MSHA certification is preferred but not required
  • Applicable candidates should hold or be willing to obtain PG or PE licensure
  • Quantitative hydrogeology skills
  • Strong verbal and written (technical writing) communication skills required
  • Strong, all-round academic knowledge and understanding of hydrogeology in complex environments with a background in geology QA/QC skills
  • Experience in the consulting field preferred
  • Possess a positive, can-do attitude, be flexible and self-motivated, and have an attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Experience with database software (Microsoft Access, Equis, etc.) a plus
  • Proficiency with GIS and/or AutoCAD software for mapping a plus
  • Experience at active mine sites a plus
  • Walk slowly around a field sites or varying size that may have areas of uneven, muddy, and/or rocky ground to perform inspections and take photographs.
  • Ability to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat and cold.
  • Ability to wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), etc.
  • Stand for several hours observing and documenting critical construction operations (i.e. pouring concrete).
  • Operate a BC Pickup Truck to commute to jobsites and to access work areas on site
  • Remain alert and vigilant while working around construction equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified.
  • Climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24 foot typically) to access structures for visual inspection.
  • Lifting - objects on job sites less than 30 pounds


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending on skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

$117,000 - $160,000
