Blue Origin is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Manager Software Development and Engineering to join our world-class engineering team in Washington, USA. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the history of space exploration, contributing to safe and repeatable space flight. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of specialists, technicians, and engineers to develop the next generation of operational software that enables Blue Origin to build and operate our products.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage up to five Software Development teams in successfully implementing advanced technologies in Blue Origin systems

  • Report directly to Senior Director of Software Engineering and Product Management and contribute to the overall strategy and objectives of the engineering department

  • Grow and mentor dedicated individuals and future leaders

  • Partner with senior leaders in Enterprise Technology and Operations to provide technology vision and direction for manufacturing, test, and quality technology initiatives, staying updated on market trends and technology innovations.

  • Identify and evaluate technical roadmaps, architecture, and research opportunities related to manufacturing technology services while leading critical discussions with technology partners.

  • Manage enterprise technology internal metrics and management operating system for solution development programs ensuring feature delivery meets expectations

  • Influence leaders within and outside the organization to align with organizational goals and build necessary partnerships.

  • Hold all teams accountable for optimizing the cost, risk mitigation, and value of services and products through staffing, forecasting, budgeting, and spending control.

  • Guide high-quality service delivery and support efforts for all manufacturing technology services, identifying opportunities for improvement and expansion to meet enterprise needs.

  • Implement operational excellence programs, facilitating the identification of desired outcomes and success measures to drive your team forward

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline; MBA preferred.

  • 8+ years of Software development experience including 4+ years managing teams

  • Experience building products that apply or incorporate AWS infrastructure

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills, including outstanding facilitation, collaboration, and influencing capability, effective interpersonal skills, and strong executive presentation development and delivery skills.

  • Ability to influence, create relationships, and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels, including problem-solving and conflict resolution.

  • Experience with budget management and KPI tracking and reporting.

  • Trustworthy, with high integrity, and the ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.

  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, self-driven, and able to articulate technology initiatives across the entire organization.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ Years in building products that use or incorporate Large Language Models

  • Familiarity with ISA-95 and AS-9100

  • Experience building manufacturing and supply chain software

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence/Wiki

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $227,120.00-$317,967.30
