Position: Sales Engineer
Location: Dodge City, KS and Amarillo, TX

The Sales Engineer provides unmatched customer experiences and demonstrates JCI's Winning Behaviors that influence a positive culture, safety-first attitude, relationship building, and impacts revenue growth and profitability. This position is responsible for generating sales/gross margin and managing all aspects of sales and customer service. Develops and nurtures relationships with account decision-makers to influence purchasing decisions and to maximize JCI's competitive position and is seen as a "solutions provider" by our customers and is expected to professionally represent JCI Industries and our vendor partners.


What You'll Do:


  • Maintain and grow the sales territory.



  • Work closely with consulting engineers in the industrial and wastewater treatment market to specify represented products and services. Maintain and build relationships with general contractors in selling represented products on municipal and industrial projects.



  • Learn product lines of each manufacturer including the competitive advantages and how to take to market successfully.



  • Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to enhance the knowledge and product awareness of current and potential customers.



  • Establish rapport and maintain key relationships with manufacturers and keep updated on new equipment changes and offerings.



  • Engage in joint sales calls with manufacturers JCI represents in the marketplace.



  • Implement market coverage strategies, and leverage key contacts with Engineering, Contractors, and Municipalities.



  • Drive product preference and product line initiatives in the market.



  • Identify, track, and bid projects in assigned territory.



  • Monitor and work long life-cycle projects for water and wastewater processing equipment.



  • Serve as the "eyes and ears" of JCI Industries in the marketplace and industry trends.



  • Attend local, regional, and national trade conferences and sales seminars.



  • Entertain customers and/or vendors after hours to strengthen relationships.



  • Provide start-up service and support when required.




What You'll Need:


  • Engineering or technical degree or 5+ years customer-facing rotating equipment, field service/maintenance experience.



  • 3+ years of successful industrial/municipal sales experience.



  • Proficient in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM software (Selltis a plus).



  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.



  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).



  • Influential customer service skills and accomplished at building relationships.



  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.



  • Possess an energetic, outgoing, and friendly demeanor.



  • Accomplished at working independently and as an active member of a team.



  • Customer-centric focus (internal and external customers).



  • Ability to work across teams to utilize resources and maximize efficiency.



  • Comfortable making cold calls and talking to people.



  • Mechanical aptitude with an understanding and/or good working knowledge of electro-mechanical rotating equipment, fabrication/manufacturing of equipment, and machine shop practices preferred.



  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment general processes is a plus.




Physical Requirements / Work Environment:


  • Must be able to walk and move about inside the office, shop, and customer/project sites.



  • Must be able to work at a stationary desk that may require sitting or standing.



  • Ability to operate and read from a computer or laptop monitor for several hours including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources.



  • Able to hear sounds and differentiate between them, and communicate via phone and electronic devices in the workplace.



  • Capable of performing work in both office and industrial settings at current/potential customer sites.



  • Must be able to drive a car and travel via plane as needed.
