As Associate Director, Operational Excellence/GPS you will be responsible for supporting the Binney Street continuous improvement culture. You will apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools to evaluate and improve the quality of site operations. You will be a part of the site GPS team and report into the Head, GPS.

Job Description: To deliver sustainable business performance, we focus on operational excellence across the organization. Within the GPS (GSK Production System) team, this role will partner with internal customers to identify and drive high-impact improvement efforts in support of site priorities and strategies by fostering the Continuous Improvement (CI) culture.

You'll provide coaching and guidance to internal customers to implement Lean / Six Sigma methodology aligned with GPS and site goals. This includes teaching both basic & advanced OE methods and tools and mentoring customers in the application of CI, by focusing the organization on the relentless elimination of non-value-added activities (waste), variation and variability, to result in sustainable and tangible impact and added value on the performance of the site/function. This role includes the responsibility for engaging employees at all levels, for building the CI capabilities, for creating ownership and embedding CI in our DNA, and for successfully delivering against both GPS team and site goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Role model GPS skills and lean leadership behaviors and be a subject matter expert in GPS and Six Sigma. Lead the site continuous improvement program aligned to OneGPS standards.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, DMAIC workshops, problem solving, and accelerators
  • Collaborate with the Site Director and SLT on the GPS implementation in alignment with the site strategy deployment.
  • Track progress of the site GPS deployment roadmap and drive forward the site GPS maturity level. Report data to central teams as required.
  • Teach, train, mentor, coach at all site levels in GPS and Lean methodologies. Must be active in problem solving and leading change.
  • Drive and develop the capability of all leaders to lead and own their continuous improvement plan and champion CI activities.
  • Ensure consistency of progress across the site and network by sharing and adopting lessons learned.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required

Why You?

Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering field
  • Experience with Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • 5+ years operational excellence experience
  • Change Management experience, including leadership of complex projects/programs
  • Problem solving in a collaborative productive manner to analyze and solve complex issues that do not have routine solutions

Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Master Black Belt Certification
  • 7+ years of experience in operational excellence (Lean/6 Sigma manufacturing)
  • 2+ years of experience within manufacturing or operations
  • Strong team facilitation, customer relationship building
  • Thorough knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)
  • Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization
