Summary:

Provides high quality medical care to patients and their families emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases

Responsibilities:

Provide medical patient care by examining diagnosing and treating clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs Educate patients (and families) on wellness prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and families as well as determine need for referrals based on examination and patient needs Determine level of urgency of follow-up referral and consultation appointments Exercise final medical judgment in all issues of health care Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients Order studies tests and ancillary services Document all serves in patient*s electronic medical record Review on a regular basis long-term cases that require ongoing medical attention Consult with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care assessment and education issue Participate in quality improvement management continuing education and other established patient care programs as established Provide clinical oversight to a medical staff including a medical assistant Assist in the resolution of complaints requests and inquiries from patients Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations

Other information:

Graduate of an approved medical (allopathic or osteopathic) dental or podiatric school. MD/DO with a valid unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of Rhode Island. Board certified or Board eligible as required. Federal Narcotics DEA license required as applicable. Demonstrated clinical competence and physical and mental status sufficient to demonstrate that he/she is able to provide quality care to patients. Clinical privileges in the physician*s specialty required for hospital owned and operated practice.
