Salary: The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000. The final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.

Position Summary
The Assistant/Associate/ Professor in Health Sciences Education for Clinical Skills and Reasoning Education will play a critical role in advancing clinical skills and reasoning education within the Health Sciences curriculum. This position will serve as the Rockford campus leader for the Medical Colloquia Course and Healthcare Systems Subtheme and collaborate with partners in Chicago and Peoria. The position will serve as key faculty teaching students in didactic, case discussion, and clinical skills sessions. The selected individual will participate in the development, planning, and implementation of simulation and standardized patient activities in each phase of the curriculum.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct the Medical Colloquia course, which runs the M1/M2. Join Course planning meetings (1x per month), work with coordinators to plan events, and grade reflections 2x per year.
  • Health Care Systems education Subtheme: Work with the cross-college planning team to plan and develop the Healthcare systems curriculum and teach all related Healthcare Systems Subtheme related sessions within the curriculum for M1 and M2 students.
  • Serve as group lead in the Doctoring and Clinical Skills (DoCS) course: carrying a student caseload of 6-8 students per academic year, grading self-directed learning and EBM assignments, running small group sessions, contributing to design, development, and implementation of Simulation and Standardized Patient encounters - including OSCEs with the other members of the DoCS Team.
  • Core Case and TBL Facilitator: Provide availability to learn and then teach various core cases and TBLs across the M1/M2 curriculum.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • MD/DO degree or its foreign equivalent with board certification in Internal Medicine, Med/Peds, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to curriculum innovation.
    • Ability to contribute to an inclusive and respectful learning environment that values diversity, fosters collaboration, and promotes dignity and respect for all.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in medical education, curriculum development, and/or clinical teaching is preferred.
