RTI International (RTI) is an independent, nonprofit research institute dedicated to improving the human condition. We are seeking a Senior Vice President (SVP) of Finance and Contracts to partner with four business units with combined annual revenues close to $1 billion and more than 3,000 staff. RTI is not a typical non-profit organization; we are a research institute that operates as a project-based professional services business. The SVP will be a strong business partner and key influencer with the senior business leaders of the organization and a key advisor in business financial decisions. This role is pivotal in driving operational efficiency, supporting strategic growth initiatives, and managing effective investment management practices. RTI is currently undergoing a large-scale ERP implementation and this leader will need to collaborate and champion change across functional teams. With over ninety percent of the revenue portfolio coming from Federal Government contracts, management experience within the government contracting space is critical.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Manage and lead a group of approximately 150 staff who carry out the nancial and contract management duties for the business units.
  • Support the implementation of ERP through championing change within the business unit finance and contracts team.
  • Partner closely with business unit's senior leadership teams and RTI functions to develop and execute nancial strategies and investments that support the business unit's growth strategies.
  • Provide nancial guidance and insights to business unit senior leadership to inform decision-making.
  • Lead the business units annual budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and funding sources.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement across nancial and operational functions.
  • Lead the development of the functional teams ensuring sufficient resources and needed skill sets are present to meet the needs of business units.
  • Ensure practices are in place to drive a team culture that has a high level of staff inclusion, belonging, and morale.
  • Champion talent development through performance planning, development, evaluation, and promotions.
  • Drive initiatives to streamline processes, reduce overhead costs, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Implement best practices and standards in nancial management, advanced analytics, digital automation, procurement, and contract management.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and adherence to standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum requirements: Bachelor's Degree and 20 years of experience, Master's degree and 16 years of experience, PhD and 12 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for visa employment status.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in nance, accounting, business administration, or a related eld preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of US federal government contracting and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale budgets and nancial operations in a multi-country environment.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate nancial data into actionable insights and strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to decision-making.
  • Ability to connect with people to build strong relationships across RTI.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills using financial data.
  • Experience being a finance business partner leading annual financial and business planning.
  • Strong Financial Planning & Analysis; strength in data visualization including use of tools like Power BI.
  • Creative problem solver that is solution oriented
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from internal or external customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Experience communicating change effectively and to prepare and support those affected by change.
  • Proven track record of inspiring respect and trust; foster quality focus in others.
  • Ability to decisively and assertively act in disciplinary actions.
  • Diplomatic and reasonable coaching and feedback skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to travel throughout the year to domestic and international locations and stay in those locations as needed.
  • Ability to obtain proper security clearances as noted by contracts.

Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
