Title: Financial Analyst - Center for Diversified Government Solutions

$24.03 - $31.25 / Posted Thru: 1-23-25

Location: Remote/Virtual - Must Live and Work in Michigan

Purpose: Under the direction of the Financial Manager or Chief Government Relations Officer, serves as a Financial Analyst to the Center for Diversified Government Solutions (CDGS). Duties include budget preparation; monitoring expenditures; analyzing accounts; producing financial reports; and performing a variety of accounting/financial related tasks.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct budget meetings with and/or email reports to client to analyze costs, project future expenditures, and minimize lapse funding.
  • Process accounts payable/receivable, purchase orders, expense reimbursements/advances, and subcontractor payments and ensure timely submission to the Finance & Contracts office for payment.
  • Serve as a financial liaison to MPHI Finance & Contracts office. Ensure compliance with MPHI financial policies and procedures.
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliation for all accounts and communicate directly with the Financial Manager or Chief Government Relations Officer on any identified issue.
  • Identify and investigate inaccuracies within project accounts and work with staff to correct inaccuracies.
  • Research, prepare, and verify a variety of financial data to provide information, strategies, and recommendations on accounts.
  • Develop budgets for new projects and amend current project budgets as needed.
  • Develop and track subcontracts, Letters of Agreement, and Facility Agreements and communicate directly with subcontractors and vendors when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot in the areas of accounts payable, affiliate employee expense reimbursements/advances, and subcontract content to ensure quality assurance and compliance with accounting rules, policies, and project budgets.
  • Maintain advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity; treat program information as confidential.
  • Maintain a positive, strong, credible, professional, and interpersonal relationship with all parties relevant to MPHI projects and represents the best interest of MPHI at all times.
  • Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

Experience: A minimum of three years related experience in accounts payable, budget compliance, record keeping, financial report preparation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities with attention to detail; be self-motivated and a team player.
  • There is a great need for critical thinking skills in this role.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <50# and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% of the time. Standard office environment. May require valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: As a key member of the CDGS staff, the financial analyst is responsible for an efficient flow of financial services. This position ensures that the needs of the staff and clients are met in a timely, accurate manner and that the financial systems are handled with attention to detail and integrity. The extent to which these duties are accomplished will dictate the extent to which the program is effective.
