Job Title: Quality Technician
Classification: Hourly ($26.00 - 28.50 hourly)
Shift: 1st shift (Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm)
Shift exception: Possibility of flex to 2nd and 3rd shift occasionally as needed with shift differential as applicable)

General Scope of Job
The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for maintaining product quality through routine inspections, testing, and real-time feedback to production teams, ensuring issues are identified and resolved before reaching the customer. By conducting root cause analyses and driving corrective actions, the Quality Lab Technician supports continuous improvement efforts to reduce defects and enhance processes. Effective communication and teamwork are essential to this role, as it serves as a critical link between production and quality assurance. The technician's work safeguards the Pregis brand and reinforces the company's commitment to delivering exceptional, innovative solutions with integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Testing and Inspection
- Conduct routine quality inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
- Use laboratory equipment (calipers, measuring tape, micrometer, etc) to ensure product specifications are met.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of quality checks and testing results.
- Perform first-article inspections and validate production samples.
Root Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving
- Investigate non-conforming products and identify root causes of quality issues.
- Collaborate with production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor and analyze quality trends to identify recurring issues and propose process improvements.
- Participate in team discussions to resolve quality-related problems promptly.
Process and Documentation Compliance
- Ensure adherence to company and regulatory quality standards (e.g., ISO, GMP, or other applicable standards).
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment according to schedules.
- Assist in the creation and revision of quality documentation, including test protocols, work instructions, and quality control procedures.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to address quality concerns.
- Provide feedback and guidance to production teams to improve product quality.
- Assist in employee training on quality standards and procedures as needed.
Key Performance Goals
- Monitor and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as the reduction of quality issues and defect rates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
General Duties
- Ensure a clean and organized lab environment, adhering to 5S principles.
- Report any safety or quality concerns immediately to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist in audits and quality-related investigations as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with quality tools such as SPC (Statistical Process Control), root cause analysis, and Pareto charts.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and quality management software.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and perform repetitive tasks accurately.
This role will focus on reducing quality issues and improving production outcomes through proactive engagement in the manufacturing process.

Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1 year Quality experience preferred
