Overview

RTI's Center for Education Data Integration (CEDI) has an immediate opening for a Research Education Analyst to lead, oversee and assist with project and task management, study and instrument design, data collection, analysis, and reporting for surveys and analytic studies in elementary, secondary, and postsecondary education. CEDI provides advanced capabilities in developing and conducting cross-sectional and longitudinal surveys and administrative data collections. The successful candidate will have an investigative and innovative mindset to support instrument design, data collection, analysis, and reporting tasks.

This position can be based in Research Triangle Park, NC or remote from anywhere within the U.S (full-time telecommuter).


Responsibilities

  • Serve in a Project Director or Task Leader role for project activities in instrument design, district/school recruitment, data collection, data analysis, and reporting for large-scale studies in elementary/secondary/postsecondary education research and evaluation.
  • Manage and mentor project staff and direct reports.
  • Perform statistical analyses and write descriptive and analytic reports and lead other project activities.
  • Draft project manuals, progress reports, and clearance packages.
  • Manage project budgets and perform cost-effectiveness analyses.
  • Lead data linkage teams and participate in cross-functional survey modernization efforts. Knowledge and experience with Privacy Protecting Record Linking (PPRL) is a plus.
  • Lead and contribute to proposals and business development by:
  • Authoring proposal sections of moderate technical complexity requiring application of education research theories and methodologies.
  • Leading both business and technical portions of a proposal.
  • Networking and outreach to potential clients to generate intelligence and business development opportunities.
  • Meet scientific stature goals by submitting papers to peer-reviewed journals, participating in professional meetings and associations, and developing tools and methods to advance RTI's capabilities.
  • Support the scientific stature activities of earlier-career staff.
  • Perform all duties with a focus on quality.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD and at least six years of relevant work experience; or a Master's degree and at least 10 years of relevant work experience; or a Bachelor's degree and at least 12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous research project and/or project task leadership.
  • Track record of successful proposal writing and/or proposal leadership.
  • Proficiency with statistical computing software.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to listen and communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working on federal contracts, particularly with the National Science Foundation (NSF).
