Title: Environmental Health Associate / Direct Services Associate III Location: Petersburg, VA 23803 Pay Rate: $24.00/Hour without benefits Duration: 06+ months Shift Timing (Day/ Evening/ Night): Day Job Description: Environmental Health Associate / Direct Services Associate III Job Summary: Perform various Environmental Health (EH) tasks requiring independent judgment and knowledge of laws and regulations. Role & Responsibilities: Performs routine investigations of animal bites, monitors confined animals to observe condition, packages specimens for transport Inspect hotels, motels, swimming pools, marinas, camps, and campgrounds, migrant labor camps and campgrounds. Investigate environmental complaints. Draft schematic drawings for water well permits and input data into the state database. Conduct on-site inspections of completed wells. Perform routine environmental health inspections. Skills Required: Report composition and data entry. Effective communication, tailored to the customer's understanding. Proficiency in basic computer software programs. Ability to conduct inspections and investigations in all areas of environmental health, to work outdoors and perform moderately strenuous physical labor during all seasons. Problem-solving skills and ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds. High school graduation or equivalent experience/training. Must be able to provide own transportation for travel within district. Maintain a valid driver's license and adhere to VDH's drive safety policy. This position involves district travel, so personal transportation is required.
