*Insurance Specialist needed with healthcare organization, SLC - Utah * Job Description As an Insurance Specialist, you will conduct insurance verification and eligibility for services, assist in obtaining or validating pre-certification and authorizations, and inform patients of their financial obligations and eligibility. You will develop and maintain a working knowledge of current Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance regulations, assist with problem resolution on claims, billing, and eligibility issues with carriers, and answer incoming phone calls from clinics to verify coverage and copays in a courteous manner.
Responsibilities * Conduct insurance verification and eligibility for services. * Assist in obtaining or validating pre-certification and authorizations. * Inform patients of their financial obligations and eligibility. * Develop and maintain a working knowledge of current Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance regulations. * Assist with problem resolution on claims, billing, and eligibility issues with carriers. * Answer incoming phone calls from clinics to verify coverage and copays in a courteous manner. Essential Skills * 1+ year of health insurance experience. * 1+ year of customer support experience. * Experience in claims, patient access, medical billing, prior authorization, medical coding, claims processing, call center, healthcare industry, prior authorization, ICD-9 codes, or CPT coding. Additional Skills & Qualifications * High school graduate or equivalent. * Excellent customer service skills, both in-person and over the phone. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Basic computer knowledge. * Excellent organizational and analytical skills. * Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. * Good verbal and written communication skills. * Basic understanding of medical ICD-9 codes and CPT medical billing codes. * Comprehensive knowledge of homecare, hospice, and skilled nursing reimbursement guidelines. * Previous experience related to insurance authorization, billing, and rate negotiation preferred. Work Environment This position operates on a Monday-Friday schedule with rotating shifts from 8:30-5:00 and 9:30-6:00. You will also be scheduled to work Saturdays approximately every six weeks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woods Cross, Utah. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
