THE POSITION

The Developmental Services Program Specialist (County Intellectual Disabilities Program Specialist 1) position focuses on certified investigation peer reviews and is with the Westmoreland County Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (BHDS) office located in downtown Greensburg behind the Courthouse. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position participates in oversight for the provider programs that serve the Intellectual Disabilities/Autism (ID/A) community of Westmoreland County. Responsibilities include administering, planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and providing technical assistance for a portion of the ID/A program under the direction of the DS Program Director, BHDS Deputy Administrator, and BHDS Administrator. You will serve as a Certified Investigation Administrative Review Committee member and Act as Chair of the Certified Investigation Peer Review Committee. This involves meetings to review competency and quality of investigations, weighing evidence, determining investigation findings, creating preventive and additional corrective action plans, and ensuring implementation and monitoring of all types of corrective action plans.

Work also includes full participation in the incident management process and community outreach efforts, as well as acting as a program liaison between the ID/A system, other areas within Westmoreland County Department of Human Services, and community stakeholders. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Occasional need to work or attend meetings after hours or on weekends. Compensation provided.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days per week, after completion of six months of probation and a county application for telework. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Greensburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in the field of intellectual disabilities, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Westmoreland County. If no eligible candidates who live within Westmoreland County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
