We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Software Developer to join the Data-Driven Design (D3) team within HDR's Architecture Business Group. This role focuses on contributing to the development of D3's technology initiatives across various domains, including web and .NET-based design tools such as Rhino and Revit. Our initiatives emphasize machine learning, generative AI, and automation to enhance design processes, improve client engagement, and drive research and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of software design, implementation, and maintenance, within the web and .net ecosystem. They will demonstrate the ability to lead projects and contribute to our global mission of promoting cutting-edge design and technological advancements in architectural design. Responsibilities:
- Lead and collaborate on the development and implementation of tools for Web, Rhino and Revit to transform the architectural design process with data-driven and intelligent strategies.
- Maintain and enhance in-house tools to support the Architecture Business Group.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate software solutions into architectural project workflows, promoting widespread adoption and efficiency.
- Mentor and guide team members in software development and architectural design techniques, fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Establish relationships with industry partners, academic institutions, and technology providers to stay updated on the latest trends in automation tools and machine learning applications in architecture.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge of C#/.NET plugin development, especially for applications in Rhino and Revit.
- Experience in developing backend services, including API creation and database development (SQL).
- Proficiency in web-based frameworks and languages, including Next.js, React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Experience with resourcing and deployment in AWS and Azure including familiarity with CI/CD processes.
- Proficiency in data processing techniques, including data cleaning, transformation, and the development of data models to ensure data integrity and usability.
- Knowledge/experience with Revit, Revit API, Autodesk Platform Services (Forge), and BIM360 API.
- Experience with automation tools and machine learning in the context of architectural design.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and related technologies.
- In-depth understanding of the architectural design process and the ability to integrate software development at various stages.
- Contributions to open-source projects or published research in computational design or related fields.
- Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary projects, demonstrating effective collaboration and communication skills.
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal abilities, capable of conveying complex software concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
