The Director, Clinical Transplant is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, programmatic and personnel activities for the clinical transplant programs (kidney, liver, pancreas, heart, lung and pediatric). This includes establishing, meeting and continuously monitoring the goals and objectives while maintaining alignment with the strategic goals and objectives for VCU Health. While the range of duties and responsibilities are broad and varied, the position's major responsibility is directing the day-to-day operations, quality/regulatory, and human resource management. The Clinical Director works closely with a variety of stakeholders, coordinating activities across the enterprise. Participates as a member of the Organ Donation and Transplant Service Line leadership team, with HLA Laboratory, Transplant Administrative Director, Associate Vice President and Chair of Transplant Services.
Secondary reporting relationship with the CNE/CNO/ACNO to collaboratively maintain current standards of nursing practice as well as nursing policies and procedures. The role coordinates activities and organizational initiatives that enable VCU Health System to be recognized within the healthcare community for excellence in nursing and continued recognition as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Patient Population Pediatrics (1-12 years) Adults (18-64 years) Geriatrics (65 years and older) Employment Qualifications Required Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field. from an accredited school. If Master's Degree is not in Nursing, then it is a requirement to have a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited school. Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or related field Licensure/Certification Required: Active registered nursing license in Virginia or reciprocal compact state. Minimum Qualifications Years and Type of Required Experience: 7 years, including 3 years' management experience Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Has full authority and accountability for actions and decisions within the scope of the position description and hospital policies and procedures. Demonstrates compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including those related to Medicaid, Medicare, and HIPAA. All employees of the nursing unit report to this position; however, supervisory responsibilities may be delegated as appropriate. Cultural Responsiveness: Diversity Equity and Inclusion certification preferred. Specialty certification highly preferred. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Experience in a large academic or complex health program that included Transplant services Working Conditions Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
