Summary: The Electrician Assistant II will work under the supervision and instruction of a Maintenance Electrician to learn, assist and perform the following duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment andconnects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, such as Maintenance Machine Repairer and Maintenance Tool Maker, to diagnose malfunction.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
  • Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
  • Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Inspects electrical systems.
  • Understands and follows safe working procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safetytrainings.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and write basic English, proficient in basic arithmetic
  • Proficient in MS Office products preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use standard industry hand and power tools.
  • 1+ years' experience as level 1Electrician assistant or equivalent industry experience.

Preferred Training and Skills:

  • OSHA 10 training.
  • Arc Flash and Contact release training.
  • Fall protection training

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
