THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is on the lookout for a qualified individual to take on the role of Correctional Industries Manager 1. In this capacity, the selected candidate will play a vital role in supporting a senior Correctional Industries Manager 2 in overseeing the comprehensive operations of the Correctional Industries' Regional Laundries situated within various State Correctional Institutions, including SCI Benner Township, Frackville, Phoenix West, and Somerset. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks, including aiding in the formulation and execution of production methodologies and objectives. You will oversee and support the management of inventory systems, time and production documentation, cost management, cost analysis, and the procurement of raw materials and general supplies. Additionally, you will be tasked with maintaining comprehensive records and preparing detailed reports concerning sales, production metrics, operational expenses, staffing costs, strategic goals, and objectives. This will also involve drafting proposals for product line expansions, enhancements to existing industries, and the establishment of new industries. Furthermore, you will ensure adherence to all relevant agency, bureau, and institutional policies by effectively communicating these standards to your team and monitoring compliance. Consistent communication with staff will be essential, achieved through daily directives, regular meetings, and written updates that address operational changes, policy updates, production challenges, inventory management, packaging, delivery logistics, maintenance, staffing, labor concerns, and other pertinent operational matters.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • The work location will be determined based on the selected applicant.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $56,098.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Corrections Factory Supervisor; or
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation, including two years of supervisory experience; or
  • A Master's Degree with major course work in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, or industrial education, or related area and one year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, including two years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation. Formal study at a college or university with major course work in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, industrial education, or related training may be substituted for non-supervisory experience on a year-for- year basis to a maximum of four years.
