The TMT Commercial Manager is responsible for:
Working directly with our sector leadership and major account Program and Project Manager(s) to support, and at times lead, the delivery and oversight of projects. The TMT Commercial Manager will work closely with the Client Manager to develop teams, lead in developing client relationships, identify growth areas, and create management tools and processes to create sustainability program growth. The TMT Commercial Manager will also work directly with Operations, legal, accounting, marketing, and administration as needed to support the Client Manager and Project Manager(s) as needed to grow the overall program and achieve financial targets. The Commercial Manager, working with the Project manager(s) will implement standardized project management processes across all projects to provide a common approach to tracking pursuits, contract management and staffing protocols as the program expands.The TMT Commercial Manager may also be asked to be a Project Manager on one or multiple projects depending on the size of projects. The Commercial Manager will provide guidance and assistance to Project Managers on contract matters and be a liaison between the operations and legal team through contract negotiation. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the items listed below:
Project Management
- Manage multi-disciplinary design teams from project conception to completion
- Collaborate on development strategies, new business prospects, technical services, quality, and production methods and standards, to achieve the established goals and objectives of the business group, region and company.
- Manage and lead project teams to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction
- 10-20% Travel to project sites, including international if needed.
- Flexible work schedule to accommodate international project support
- Control project budget, scope, and schedule
- Ensure product deliverables meet quality standards
- Forecasting, Invoicing and contract management
- Promote HDR through regular client interface
- Staff recruiting working closely with the local Business Group Manager
- Create proposal content including scope, schedule and budget
- Lead HDR at interview presentations
- Work cooperatively with local office leads, other business group leads, technical directors and marketing managers.
- Other technical / managerial tasks as assigned
Contract Management
- Monitoring Compliance
- Tracking and Participating in Legal Reviews
- Change Management Negotiation and Processing Contract Change Orders
- Implementation of change management procedures and driving procedures throughout project lifecycle
- Assistance in claims and dispute resolution
- Contract Close-Out
Risk Management
- Developing and Monitoring Risk Register and Attend Status Meetings
- Identify Potential Risks Across Program and Projects
- Develop mitigation plans with the project team
- Participate in Monthly Project Reviews
Document Control
- Verify Compliance
- Develop management process and procedures that aligns with HDR QMS
- Develop procedures in accordance with contractual requirements
Project Accounting
- Project Financial Reviews
- Support Invoicing
- Review Reimbursable Expenses
- Identify Gaps Between Actual Cost and Projections and Reconcile with PM
Scheduling
- Collaborate with PMs and Business Group Managers on project schedules and staffing needs
- Attend Weekly Schedule meetings and Identify Design Team Risks
- Review Schedule Adjustments for Change Orders

Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years' experience in Architecture/ Engineering, Design-Build, P3, project management, construction, project controls and/or staff leadership or equivalent
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, business, law or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Architecture/ Engineering/ Construction industry contracting practices in the country(ies) the Commercial Manager works in, applicable government and commercial regulations and practices, policies, procedures and work practices.
- Working knowledge of project controls, project management, and project estimating software
- Experience in development of contracts, administration and negotiation of change orders, effective correspondence, planning and scheduling.
- Ability to work well in a high performing team structure in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive professional reputation as one who can deliver quality, cost effective projects.
- Self-starter; good communication and people skills.
- Must be committed to quality and improvement and promoting HDR's values.
- Ability to teach, lead, and mentor others.
