CTD Temporary Summer Office Assistant

CTD Academic Summer Camp at Northwestern University

Office Assistants (OA) work closely with a variety of staff and work in many aspects of the summer program, providing clerical and organizational assistance to keep the Summer Program running smoothly and efficiently as directed by the CTD Summer Office Manager. In addition to their administrative tasks, OAs also provide student supervision during drop-off, pick-up, lunch, and afternoon activities. This is an active and visible role requiring high energy and flexibility.

Employment Dates and Salary

Full-time or part-time work: May 27 - August 15, 2025, June 29 and July 20 (Sundays) required

Hours: Monday - Friday, generally 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (hours may vary)

Compensation: $17.00 per hour; 37.5 hours maximum; one-hour unpaid break daily

Qualifications

  • Applicants should demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills,
  • Applicants should be self-motivated and adaptable and maintain a professional demeanor with a mature and positive attitude.
  • Serve as role models for students and staff and exhibit a strong work ethic and commitment to teamwork.
  • Previous experience in customer service, office or clerical work, or interacting with children and young adults is highly desired. Experience working in a fast-paced environment is a plus.
  • Office Assistants must be able to lift and carry 40+ pounds and traverse at least one mile with or without accommodation.

General Responsibilities

  • Adhere to CTD policies, procedures, and staff conduct expectations as outlined in the staff handbook and by administrative staff.
  • Uphold and promote the CTD Honor Code among staff and students.
  • Assist with lifting, moving, organizing, and setting up supplies and summer program offices as needed.
  • Deliver and retrieve materials, such as books and supplies, to classrooms and residence halls during sessions and on Opening and Closing Days.
  • Inventory, organize, and manage program supplies on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist with student check-in procedures, attendance tracking, and supervision during drop-off, pick-up, between classes, lunch, and afternoon activities.
  • Support catering pickup and setup as needed.
  • Perform data entry, copy and collate materials, and prepare requested items for instructors and coordinators.
  • Collect and deliver packages and mail daily.
  • Organize and complete pre- and post-program projects.
  • Provide general assistance on Opening Days (Sundays) and Closing Days (Fridays) as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, instructors, and parents to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Take on additional program-related responsibilities as requested by CTD administrative staff.
