Clinical Faculty Position - Assistant or Associate

Part of a comprehensive research university, the College of Law is a dynamic law school located in the heart of Atlanta with approximately 650 full-time and part-time law students. The Externship Program is an integral part of the College of Law's experiential learning curriculum. The Externship Program provides opportunities for GSU Law full-time and part-time students to work with non-profits, government agencies, corporate in-house departments, law firms and judges while earning academic credit. Georgia State University's College of Law seeks highly qualified applicants for a fulltime clinical faculty position in the Externship Program.
The position is a non-tenure track twelve-month clinical faculty appointment, with faculty status that satisfies ABA Accreditation Standard 405. Clinical faculty, after a five-year probationary period, are eligible for presumptively renewable contracts

Clinical faculty have voting rights (including all faculty hiring matters) and serve on faculty committees at the College of Law. A clinical faculty member's teaching package typically includes the externship seminar for two semesters and one additional non-clinical course, consistent with their expertise and interests.

Applications are welcome from both entry-level, junior, and senior lateral faculty. Depending on the experience level of the successful candidate, the position may also include an appointment as either the co-director or the associate director of the program.

3+ years relevant post-J.D. legal experience.

Applicants should have a Juris Doctor (J.D.), Doctor of the Science of Law (J.S.D.), Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.), LL.M. (Master of Laws), or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an ABA accredited law school at the time of appointment.

A criminal background review is required.

Law Fiscal Year/12 month appointment. Standard hours to support workload of 80% Teaching and 20% Service for Assistant Clinical Professor; and 60% Teaching,10% Research; 30% Service for Associate Professor.
