Summary of Position Responsibility:

Using Engineering procedures standard for research and development, carries out assignments associated with research, design, development, support or manufacturing of specific parts, processes, or components ofproducts. Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Under the general direction of a functional manager, with moderate latitude for self-direction, operates in one or more areas of responsibility within a specific function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Applies advanced engineering and scientific principles to determine and evaluate technical feasibility for challenging projects; Solves complex customer problems using a variety of technologies.
  • Serves as global project/technology leader; leads brainstorming meetings across the organization and gets buy-in from cross functional partners.
  • Acts as an individual contributor, core team or technical lead for a specific project.
  • Accountable for the completion of assigned deliverables in accordance with approved schedules.
  • Authors documentation and participates in activities in support of design control.
  • Independently plans, performs & prioritizes tasks that are complex in nature, in alignment with corporate goals.
  • Analyzes and interprets data, identifying trends and formulating the next steps, while effectively performing trade off analysis, if required by the function.
  • Leads, designs and/or develops one or more of the following: new test methods, specifications, technical apparatus, software and processes for complex components and functions.
  • Identifies product defects and recognizes outliers in results. Able to explain and document product defects and their impact.
  • Effectively communicates technical information to a multidisciplinary team in the form of documentation, presentations and technical summaries and promotes collaboration.
  • Technical expertise in (2) areas and emerging as a subject matter expert.
  • Provides technical guidance to and/or supervision of other group members and cross-functional technical teams. Able to mentor others.
  • Provides technical support for or leads Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) or complaint investigations.
  • Independently generates predictable schedules for activities related to the function, understanding cross-functional dependencies.
  • Recommends and leads implementation of improvement initiatives to aid department practices.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation by proactively generating novel concepts for new products and enhancements to current product performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality and safety policies, procedures, and practices as well as with all local, state, federal regulations.
  • Other duties may be assigned or required for the performance of this position.

Knowledge & Experience (Minimum Job Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Math, or related field and 11 years' experience or master's degree and 9 years' experience.
  • Minimum 9 years of experience in product development with an emphasis on various aspects of engineering design and development.
  • Superior project management skills and experience; proven success in understanding project financials and determining product cost drivers.
  • Extensive proven success in delivering projects to commercial expectations.
  • Strong statistical analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Creative Problem Solving, and Critical Thinkingskills.
  • Strong in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Design of Experiments methods.
  • Ability to work well independently or collaboratively in teams.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams; ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
  • Superior time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven success coaching and mentoring others.
  • MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally; 10% Travel

Adhesive Technical Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of adhesive chemistry and performance characteristics, particularly high-performance and specialty adhesives for niche applications.
  • Skilled in selecting, applying, and optimizing adhesive processes, with experience in adhesive bonding, application techniques, and problem-solving in manufacturing environments.
  • Skilled in the selection, treatment, and application of adhesives with textiles and plastics applications, ensuring effective bonding, flexibility, and durability for wearable, hygienic, or medical products.
  • Ability to apply material engineering principles to create or optimize designs tailored for high-performance requirements in transportation, aerospace, or medical applications.
  • Proficiency in working with transfer tapes, laminating processes, and understanding adhesive behavior in multi-layered, roll-to-roll converting setups.
  • Experience in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting roll-to-roll converting equipment, including web handling, precision coating, and die-cutting.
  • In-depth understanding of adhesive testing methodologies, including shear, peel, and tensile testing, as well as interpreting data to ensure product performance meets stringent specifications.
  • Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams (R&D, production, quality) to drive process improvements and ensure adhesive solutions meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Capable of managing multiple adhesive development projects, from initial concept through commercialization, ensuring timelines, budgets, and technical requirements are met.
