Human Resources works with all divisions of the Metropolitan Council to provide proactive solutions for the Council's workforce needs in the areas of recruitment, labor relations, benefits, training, organizational development, occupational health, and wellness.

How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:

The Workforce Development Coordinator supports Workforce Development programs which contribute to addressing the Council's current and projected workforce needs. These programs include registered Apprenticeship and custom training programs. Tasks include but are not limited to planning, outreach and recruitment, data collection, program execution, and reporting.


What you would do in this job

  • Assist and lead the delivery of program curriculum to participants.
  • Ensure the project timeline and milestones are being met and/or adjusted as necessary in order to deliver program outcomes.
  • Create training schedules, assist in developing program curriculum, and identify needed resources so the program can reach intended outcomes.
  • Develop and implement evaluation, data collection, and performance measurement tools to communicate efficacy and meet contractual requirements.
  • Perform ongoing outreach to targeted communities in order to ensure that Council workforce reflects the communities we serve.
  • Transport participants to off campus testing centers.
  • Contribute to understanding the Council's workforce needs, critiquing and evaluating existing strengths and deficits to develop programming that addresses needs and can be implemented if proven successful.
  • Ensure external and internal program partners are fully engaged and fulfilling obligations including scheduled production of deliverables to ensure program success.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external program partners.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)

Any of the following combinations of completed education (in human services, communication, training, education, or related field) and experience performing the following in a workforce development organization: outreach to targeted communities, delivering curriculum, data collection, and participant support:

  • Bachelor's degree with two years of experience
  • Associate degree with four years of experience
  • High school diploma/GED with six years of experience
License Requirement: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

What additional skills and experience would be helpful in this job (desired qualifications):
  • Experience working with twin cities area workforce development organizations.
  • Experience working with, or knowledge of, a wide range of service and technical professions.
  • Experience working with adult learners.
  • Experience working with English language learners.
  • Experience working with underrepresented populations.
What knowledge, skills and abilities you should have within the first six months on the job:
  • Knowledge of job or career requirement standards and progression.
  • Knowledge of external workforce development trends, practices, and approaches.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Skilled in developing and working with data tracking and reports.
  • Ability to communicate ideas, concepts, action steps, and objectives.
  • Ability to understand and utilize multiple career/industry terms, vernacular, and mindset.
  • Ability to adapt a client-based approach to all programming and consultation.
  • Ability to quickly adjust and respond to program changes.
