Prepare and submit various regulatory reports and make related payments in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain strong relationships with personnel at state and federal agencies as the main point of contact. Serve as subject matter expert for internal planning and reporting purposes.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Calculate monthly tax payments and annual true up according to statutes and regulations and submitreportsto state agencies.
  • Calculate monthly payments, prepare and submit federal and state royalty reports. Complete the semi-annual state royalty true-up.
  • Ensure that all tax and royalty incentives are being evaluated and applied to reduce expense and liability.
  • Work closely with production and other personnel to resolve reporting issues including discrepancies between various reports and filings.
  • Prepare payments and make related general ledger entries to record and clear payments.
  • Ensure proper controls are in place to reconcile payables with payments.
  • Answer and resolve internal and external customer inquiries including audit inquiries.
  • Monitor the progress of external audits and provide status updates to management and relevant operations personnel.
  • Assist junior team members in resolving day to day report calculation and preparation issues.
  • Provide regulatory expertise in reporting taxes, state and federal royalties for internal planning and reporting purposes.
  • Perform special projects that require knowledge of oil and gas regulatory accounting when needed.

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years minimum experience in regulatory or oil and gas accounting.
  • Ability to solve problems accurately and exhibits exceptional proficiency in data management, including spreadsheet proficiency.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex operational information into an organized and presentable manner.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
  • Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of oil and gas accounting systems and report writing software.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college or equivalent experience.
