Position Summary:



The Casual Position - Infrastructure Consultant advises the CIO with the management and oversight of a hybrid (insourced and outsourced) organization, including infrastructure projects, Cybersecurity, documentation, and contract administration. The candidate will also advise and assist on the outsourced portion of the organization consistent with their field of expertise.



Position Responsibilities:




  • Supports the processes and procedures that are performed by the organization to plan, design, deliver, operate and control information technology (IT) services offered to customers
  • Provides advice and direction to ITS Directors, Managers, and Technicians in the entire ITS Infrastructure team including Networking, System Administration, Telecommunications, and Security
  • Provides advisement oversight of all vendor contracts about IT infrastructure
  • Participates in assigned IT Governance committees
  • Advises on operational and capital budgets for the IT infrastructure areas
  • Liaises between key university stakeholders and the ITS organization
  • Provides reports for assigned projects and issues
  • Participates in the IT Change Control process
  • Creates/Maintains an ITIL Service Catalog specific to IT services provided by the IT infrastructure organizations
  • Advises on the organization, analysis and monitoring of capital and operational costs and expenditures for the IT infrastructure areas
  • Reviews contracts and third-party agreements from an IT perspective to assure quality of services, cost and compliance with University policies
  • Assist with annual University IT audit


Cybersecurity:



  • Supervising and guiding the Information Security Manager (ISM) and his/her staff in providing physical and digital data security solutions to the university
  • Member of the Cyber Security governance committee
  • Responsible for the security policies and procedures delivered to the university
  • Responsible for the relationship of any data security contractors or vendor in creating or delivering any policies or procedures to the university
  • Routinely evaluating university security needs with the ISM and his/her staff
  • Responsible for the security status information and progress reporting to CIO and Senior Management Team



Experience & Educational Background:




  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent in education and experience with a minimum of 15 years of related work experience in higher education Networking, Telecommunications, or Server system administration
  • Master's degree highly desirable
  • Foundations certification in the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) required

Salary Range:



$76.00 - $115.00 per hour
