The Colorado School of Mines Department of Public Safety is a full service, community oriented law enforcement agency, providing 24/7 service to the campus community. The Department of Public Safety / Mines Police Department exists to provide police and security services to the campus community including but not limited to: enforcing the laws and regulations of the Colorado School of Mines community; exercising powers of custody and arrest; detecting criminal activity; investigating complaints and incidents; interviewing witnesses; gathering evidence; responding to emergencies and requests for assistance; providing traffic and crowd control; writing appropriate reports and citations; preparing cases for prosecution by the district attorney by executing warrants; and testifying in court proceedings. Description of Job The Police Officer I is the first line contact with victims of crime and emergencies occurring on campus owned property. This position provides assistance, information and direction to all members of the campus community in the areas of crime prevention, personal safety and general security. Job Responsibilities

This position requires that the employee be available to work 7 days a week, various shifts, and possibly in inclement weather conditions. The employee must be able to respond as required to emergency call-out situations. The employee is required to be on duty to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency without delay and/or interruption.
