The Long U.S.- China Institute is dedicated to studying contemporary China in all of its complexity and in fostering bilateral engagement between the US and China. To this end, the Institute supports scholarship and events that facilitate mutual understanding and that highlight a diversity of voices and disciplinary approaches. Engaged faculty come from the Social Sciences, Humanities, Law, Business, and Social Ecology who are engaged in cutting edge research on contemporary China. A key goal of the Institute is to connect academics to policy makers, public interest groups, and the wider community. Your Role on the Team The Director of the Long U.S. - China Institute will work independently, but collaboratively with the faculty director, Development Office and others, to build and develop the Long Institute into a full-fledged research institute dedicated to studying contemporary Chinese society, politics, and culture. The Director's primary duties will include directing the administrative operations of the Institute and securing significant philanthropic investments to support the Institute into the future. The Director will work with faculty on formulating and executing plans and will organize colloquia and other public forums that highlight scholarship focused on contemporary China and the US-China bilateral relationship among other topics. The Director will design, develop, deliver, and administer fundraising programs. Identifies new donor prospects through researching background information on potential donors and developing materials, marketing plans, and organizing related programs / events; cultivates, stewards, and solicits donor prospects. This is a 100% FTE with 3 years of expected funding.
