Simulation Operations Specialist

Description Simulation Operations Specialist is responsible for managing and accurately replicating realistic simulation environments using complex high and low fidelity simulation equipment and software. Assist the simulation education specialist and facilitators in all clinical areas in running simulation activities the align with learning goals and measurable outcomes. They will be responsible for the maintenance, repairs and inventory of complex high and low fidelity simulation equipment, and appropriately partner with internal and external experts to troubleshoot and equipment or software related concerns.
Qualifications Minimum Education
Vocational Education Technical Diploma in a Health-related field is required. Preferred Associate Degree in a health related field preferred. .

Minimum Work Experience
5 years Direct patient care experience, including using biomedical equipment (Required)

Required Licenses and Certifications
CHSOS (Preferred)

Functional Accountabilities
Simulation and Clinical Equipment
  • Manages the maintenance and operations of all simulation equipment, schedules repairs and upgrades when necessary and appropriate.
  • Monitors and records simulation equipment safety and performance testing and ensure proper certification.
  • Troubleshoots simulation equipment and software problems. Functions as primary liaison with simulation vendors/manufacturers.
  • Operates controls and programs simulators and related audio/visual equipment during scenario-based training.
  • Maintain inventory of all simulation equipment, software and hardware and is responsible for preventive maintenance.
  • Assists with room set up, programming and maintenance of virtual reality simulation equipment.
  • Orients new simulation educators and facilitators on proper use of simulation equipment, software and hardware.
Simulation Supply and Inventory Management
  • Establishes sustainable inventory management process for all simulation related equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains inventory par levels for medical and sample pharmacological, simulation supplies and materials
  • Provides recommendations on purchasing new equipment, software and hardware to Program Director.
  • Coordinates procurement of required supplies using cost containment strategies.
Clinical Knowledge
  • Demonstrates clinical knowledge, including terminology and procedures routinely used in scenario-based simulation.
  • Effectively communicates with simulation team members and clinical staff to ensure scenario based simulation activities are setup/designed and delivered to align with learning outcomes
  • Maintain confidentiality of all participants during simulation activites.
  • Report any concerns or issues to responsible RN.
  • Active in personal educational development.
  • Assist with special projects or initiatives as needed.

  • Demonstrates a high level of interprofessional communication skills and ability to work effectively within and across variable teams.
  • Maintains confidentiality of participants during simulation activities.
  • Escalates any concerns or issues to Program Manager/Director.

  • Willingly provides assistance and tutorials to educate on proper use simulation equipment, software and hardware
